Tritons Split Doubleheader, Take Series With Historic Game Two

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - After falling in the opening game of the doubleheader, 9-5, the Tritons baseball team dominated in a 21-run shutout against the Sailfish on Saturday afternoon at JM Rubin Park to take the series. Eckerd's 21 runs are the most against a conference opponent since at least 1999.

The Tritons fell behind to a 9-0 hole in the day's opener. In the eighth, the Tritons scored five runs for a late rally to bring themselves within three. Kyle Ericson and Kyle Abbott each had two
RBIs in the frame, while Ballard added one in a last-ditch attempt to even the score. The Tritons ultimately fell 9-5.

Eckerd took the series in game two in commanding fashion, with a 21-run performance to shut out the Sailfish in the finale. A trio of unearned runs in the first gave the Tritons a 3-0 lead.

Jake Andriole hit a two-run single to right field, followed by a three-run homerun by Cam Collier for the 8-0 favor in the second inning.

The Tritons posted nine runs in the fifth inning, including another three-run homerun by Collier, bringing the lead to double-digits, 17-0.

In the seventh, Weston Wiles hit a two-run double to left field before Chris Sauer tallied his first career RBI with a base hit up the middle. EC added another run in the ninth.
