Abbott's Walk-Off Double Lifts Tritons Over Lions in Extra Innings

ST. PETERSBURG, FLA. -  A walk-off double from Kyle Abbott brought home Tyler Cox to secure the 3-2 come-from-behind victory in the 12th inning as the Eckerd baseball team took the series over Emmanuel College (Ga.) on Sunday afternoon at the Turley Athletic Complex.

In back-to-back outings, the Lions got on the board first. Nick Deitsch doubled into right field, driving Manibusan home to give the Lions the 1-0 jump. In the top of the third, Thomas Collins doubled to right field, bringing Braeden Eavenson home for the two-run lead.

In the fourth, with two outs and two runners on, Kyle Ericson hammered one to center field for an RBI single, shortening the gap to one.  In the fifth, Dimerson Nunez singled to right field, leaving Ballard to bat with two on. On back-to-back wild pitches, Joe Wike and Nunez advanced, with Wike scoring on the second wild pitch to tie the game.

In the bottom of the 12th, Cox reached in an infield single. Abbott hit a blistering ball into left center field for a double as Cox came around from first to score, beating the play at the plate.

Curtis Perry earned the win on the mound, the fifth of his career, allowing only one hit through seven innings pitched.
