LAKELAND, FLA. - A five-run sixth inning lifted the Eckerd College baseball team over Florida Southern by a score of 8-6 at Henley Field on Tuesday night. First baseman Jake Andriole led the way, batting 3-for-4 with two RBIs. Joe Wike went 2-for-4 with two RBIs.
The Mocs got the early jump in the bottom of the second on a homerun by Drew Cavanaugh. However, the lead only lasted for one scoreless frame as the Tritons knotted the score at one in the top of the fourth with an RBI single by Michael Ballard.
After a wash of a fifth inning, both teams adding two runs apiece, the Tritons exploded in the top of the sixth and notched another five runs. Kyle Abbott delivered the go-ahead run with an RBI single. Cam Collier and Jake Andriole each added an RBI single. Joe Wike singled for two RBIs, bringing home Tyler Young and Collier for a pair of insurance runs.
