ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - The No. 8 Eckerd women's basketball team used strong perimeter shooting as they cruised to a 25-point victory, 80-55, over Florida Tech Saturday afternoon at the McArthur Center.
Eckerd began the game aggressively with an 11-1 start. EC continued to cruise with a 20-10 favor at the end of the first quarter. The Tritons started the second stanza on a 17-2 run, including five triples in the stretch, before entering halftime up 44-22.
Eckerd maintained a 20-plus point lead throughout the opening five minutes of the second half before FIT trimmed their deficit to 17. However, Sofia Persson responded with a triple to push EC back up by 20 before taking a 61-41 lead at the end of the frame. EC breezed in the fourth quarter to an 80-58 victory.

- Hannah Wentworth led EC with 19 points, while Persson and Scales rounded out the double-figure scores with 17 and 12, respectively.
- Lauryn Vieira led EC on the boards with nine, while Persson added seven. The pair rounded out their stat lines with seven assists and four steals each.
- Wentworth also grabbed three steals.
- Eckerd ties its season-high with 15 triples.

"I thought we rebounded well today and played good team defense, especially in the first half. We also moved the ball great and knocked down our open shots. It was a nice team win," stated head coach Paul Honsinger '98.
