ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - The Eckerd softball team racked up 19 hits over both games on the way to an opening day sweep over Ursuline (Ohio) on Friday evening with a pair of 9-1 run rule victories at the Turley Athletic Complex.
The Arrows got on the board first with a run in the opening frame. However, EC quickly took the lead for good in the bottom of the inning on a Skylar Redish sacrifice fly and RBI single by Megan Diaz.
Eckerd took a 5-1 lead in the second stanza, following a pair of RBI singles by Redish and Ella Coiner.
The Tritons added another run in the third and fourth innings, followed by a two-RBI single by Brenna Lokeinksy in the fifth to end the game.
The Tritons plated three runs in the opening stanza of the second game with RBIs from Lauren Margolis, Redish, and Diaz.
UC added a run in third, but EC answered back as Diaz accounted for all three runs in the bottom of the frame. Eckerd plated three runs in the fifth to seal the win.

NOTES AND NUMBERS
- Lokeinsky and Coiner posted two hits and two RBIs each in the opener.
- Brielle Beniefield collected the win in the opener by scattering five hits and one run over five innings.
- Diaz went 3-for-3 in the finale with four RBIs, while Margolis and Coiner collected two hits each.
- Olivia Johnson earned the win in the finale scattering two hits and striking out five while giving up one unearned run.
- Margolis finished the doubleheader 3-for-3 with a pair of extra-base hits and three walks.
- Five Tritons finished the two games hitting .500 or better: Coiner, Diaz, Lokenisky, Cardona, and Redish.
