ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - The Eckerd softball team rallied in the seventh but could not overcome West Alabama's three homeruns as EC dropped its first game of the Flagler Invitational, 6-2, on Saturday at Flagler Field.
West Alabama got on the board first with a two-run home run by LP Trammell in the first inning.
Ella Coiner brought Eckerd within a run in the third on an RBI single to right field. The Tigers added to their lead in the third with a solo homerun by Ann Marie Stanbridge and a two-run blast by Hannah Mynard.
UWA made it a 6-1 lead with another run in the fourth.
Eckerd rallied in the seventh, loading the bases with one out in the frame on three singles by Lauren Margolis, Skylar Redish, and Coiner. Megan Diaz drove in a run on a sacrifice fly, but Eckerd was unable to complete the rally.
