ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - After an early run in the second inning for the Lions, the Tritons' baseball team picked up the victory in game two of the series with a six-run inning in the sixth. Tyler Cox drove in two runs giving the Tritons the go-ahead to defeat Emmanuel (Ga.) 6-1 at the Turley Athletic Complex Saturday afternoon.
The Lions got on the board first as Bergstrom reached on an error, bringing home Muniz for the early lead.
After three scoreless innings, the Tritons' bats came alive as Eckerd scored all six of their runs in the sixth inning. Wike led off with a double to third base. Ballard delivered an RBI single, scoring Wike to tie the game. The next at bat, Cox hit one out to center for a base hit and two RBIs, with Ballard and Gelwick reaching home. Kyle Abbott, Kyle Ericson, and Jake Andriole added RBI singles in the frame.
Gil Colon relieved Cox in the top of the seventh and earned the save, throwing three hitless innings. He would shut the door for the Tritons with the 6-1 victory.
