LAKELAND, Fla. - The Eckerd softball team dropped its series opener at Florida Southern, 3-1, on Friday night at Chris Belotto Field as the Moccasins used a three-run fourth inning.
The Mocs scored first with three runs in the fourth inning on a sacrifice fly and a two-run single.
Eckerd added a run in the fifth as Jenice Casanas led off the inning with a bunt before moving around on a stolen base and ground out. She scored on an attempted squeeze bunt.
EC threatened in the seventh inning as Hannah Gordon and Brenna Lokeinsky singled, but Eckerd was unable to push a run across.
