ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - The Eckerd men's tennis team fell to Warner (Fla.), 4-2, Monday afternoon at the Bullard Courts.
The Royals (2-2) beat the Tritons (0-2, 0-1 SSC) after earning the doubles point and winning three of six singles matches, with one singles match left unfinished.
The Tritons began the day falling in doubles competition despite Batu Ataseven and Esteve Agusti winning in No. 1 doubles, 6-4. Christian Kearns and Phil Grueninger took Nicolas Fertonani and Niklas Huth to a tie-break and fell 7-6 (7-4).
Freshmen Batu Ataseven and Esteve Augusti both won their singles matches. Ataseven took the match, winning two straight sets 7-6 (7-4), 6-3. Augusti took his second singles match of the season 6-1, 7-5.
John William Karlstad and Lorenzo Ocantos went to three sets, Karlstad falling 11-9 in the final set.
The No. 6 match between Niklas Huth and Phil Grueninger was left unfinished after Huth took the first set 6-2.
The Tritons hit the road for the first time, heading to Daytona for another conference matchup against Embry-Riddle (Fla.) on Saturday at 2:00 PM.
