Tritons Walk-Off In Opener, Take Series From Lynn

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - The Eckerd softball team used a walk-off sacrifice fly from Brenna Lokeinsky to take the opener, 3-2, in the 11th inning before falling in a back-and-forth finale, 6-5, as the Tritons took the series over Lynn at the Turley Athletic Complex on Saturday.

Lynn scored first in the opener, adding a run on a double steal in the second frame.

Eckerd evened the score in the next inning as Skylar Redish scored on Ella Coiner's single from first.

EC took the lead in the sixth inning as Kinsley Castro delivered a pinch-hit sacrifice fly to plate Coiner for a 2-1 lead. However, Lynn forced extra innings after tying the game in the seventh on a sacrifice fly.

Jenice Casanas led off the 11th with a double to left center field before moving to third on a wild pitch. Brenna Lokeinsky brought in Casanas on a sacrifice fly for the walk-off win.

The Tritons took an early advantage in the finale with a 1-0 lead in the first inning on Coiner's sacrifice fly. However, Lynn took a 2-1 favor with a pair of sacrifice flies in the second and third inning.

Eckerd pulled ahead in the fourth with a run scoring on an error and Brooklyn Cardona's bases-loaded walk. The Knights regained the lead in the following frame on a pair of RBI base hits before taking a 5-3 lead in the sixth with a run scoring on an error.

EC rallied to retake the lead in the sixth as a run crossed on a defensive miscue and Cardona's groundout.

Lynn rallied a final time, scoring the go-ahead run in the final frame on a squeeze bunt.
