Eckerd Splits Doubleheader at Flagler

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - The Eckerd softball team's bats erupted for 16 hits in the opening game on the way to a 10-2 win, while Flagler (Fla.) shutout the Tritons, 3-0, in the finale on Sunday at Flagler Field. 

Eckerd plated six runs in the opener, with Skylar Redish, Ella Coiner, Hannah Gordon, and Jenice Casanas all driving in a run each on singles. Another two runs crossed on an error.  

Coiner drove in two runs with a single in the fifth for an 8-0 lead. FC plated two runs in the frame on a wild pitch and a single. 

Eckerd added an insurance run in the sixth and seventh on Brenna Lokeinsky's RBI single and a Lauren Margolis solo homerun, respectively. 

Flagler scored in the opening frame of the second game on an error. The Saints added a pair of runs in the fifth on an RBI groundout and an RBI double. 

Eckerd had runners in scoring position in the second, third, fifth, and seventh innings but was unable to push a run across.

NOTES AND NUMBERS

  • Coiner went 4-for-4 in the opener with three RBIs. 
  • Lokeinsky (3), Casanas (3), and Gordon (2) produced a multi-hit performance in the opener. 
  • Margolis recorded her first homerun of the season and the eighth of her career in the opener. 
  • Margolis drew four walks on the day, with three in the opener. 
  • Casanas went 3-for-3 in stolen bases over both games. 
  • Jadyn Wright recorded her first collegiate hit in the finale, going 2-for-3. 

UP NEXT
Eckerd returns to the Turley Athletic Complex on Friday, hosting Lynn at 6:00 PM for the first of a three-game series to open up conference play.
