ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Chance Bucher drained five threes en route to a 71-52 victory for the Eckerd women's basketball team over the Florida Southern Moccasins in the McArthur Center on Saturday.
After a full minute of scoreless action, Martyna Kowalska opened up the scoring for the Tritons to take the first lead, and they did not look back. Eckerd worked to an eight-point favor, but Florida Southern hit a late jumper to close the frame, with Eckerd leading 15-9. The Tritons were hot in the second quarter, shooting 66.67 percent from beyond the 3-point line. They were 4-for-6 from three and 7-for-11 from the floor. The Tritons closed the half leading 39-23.
Kowalska put up seven points early to open the second half. They led 58-37 heading into the final frame. Eckerd took its largest lead of the game up 27 at the 9:02 mark of the fourth quarter off a 3-pointer from Jessie Ford. Florida Southern went on a seven-point run midway through the quarter that was stifled by a jumper from Ieva Korzane at the 2:09 mark as EC cruised to a 19-point victory.
