TAMPA, Fla. - The Eckerd volleyball team fell in straight sets to the fifth-seeded Florida Southern Moccasins at the Bob Martinez Center in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament Thursday night.
Eckerd jumped out to a slight lead, 8-6, to start the match, but the Moccasins responded with a 7-1 run to take a four-point favor. An EC 5-1 run tied the opening set at 18-18. However, the Mocs took the set, 25-19, on a 7-1 run.
After a back-and-forth start to the second frame, Eckerd took a 13-11 favor. The Moccasins used a 9-2 run to take a five-point edge before taking the set, 25-22.
A 7-1 start by FSC fueled the third set. Eckerd pulled within two points at 14-12, but the Moccasins distanced themselves and took the match 25-17.
