Boca Raton, Fla. - The Eckerd men's soccer team turned in a stifling defensive performance, keeping the top-10 nationally ranked Fighting Knights off the board with a 0-0 draw at No. 5 Lynn on Saturday evening.
The Knights were aggressive early with two chances in the 20th minute, but Tritons keeper Aidan Leak turned back Luis Kiefer's shot and another shot off a corner kick that hit the frame. Eckerd kept LU off balance, forcing another shot off-frame in the final minutes of the first half as the teams entered intermission scoreless. Â
The Tritons scattered two LU shots to start the second half, while Leak turned back another shot on frame in the 64th and 70th minutes. Liam Armstrong placed EC's first shot in the game in the 67th minute, but his attempt missed high. Eckerd was kept without a quality scoring chance until the 86th minute, as Lynn was playing a person down, but Tommy Shepherd's shot was turned back, leading to a scoreless draw.Â
