Tritons Drop Second Straight Conference Match

MELBOURNE, Fla. - The Eckerd women's soccer team dropped its second conference loss of the season by a score of 3-1 to Florida Tech at Rick Stottler Field on Wednesday night.

The Tritons registered shots early and often as a pair of attempts by Hajar Benjoud and Brooke Bisko were high and wide of the net. Not long after, the Panthers opened the scoring for the game, with Christina Garriga netting her third goal of the season off a pass from Katherine Cunningham in the 11th minute. A mere three minutes later, Cunningham and Garriga each picked up another point on the night as they assisted FIT's second goal by Mayara Queiroz Reis in the 14th minute.

The second half was a defensive battle as both teams turned back shots. Cadence Talbert stepped in to goal andd stopped three Panther scoring chances in the second half. In the 76th minute, freshman Abby Ripple netted her first goal on a corner kick, breaking Sanchez Requero's shutout. Unfortunately, the goal was not enough as the Tritons fell, 3-1.
