Tritons Drop SSC Contest at Nova Southeastern

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - Despite a pair of tight opening sets, the Eckerd volleyball team dropped a 3-0 road decision at Nova Southeastern Friday night.

Eckerd held a slight favor early on in the first set before the Sharks went on a 6-2 run to take an 18-14 lead. EC evened the score at 23-23, but NSU took the last two points to take the set. EC and NSU swapped leads throughout the second set, with the Sharks holding a slim 23-22 lead before Nova Southeastern took the stanza, 25-22. The Sharks held a steady edge in the final set, taking the match, 25-19.

NOTES 

• Damyah Joyner led Eckerd with 12 kills while hitting at a .407 percent clip. 
• Stella Antypa added nine kills. 
• Aleksa Curta made the first start of her career, nearly posting a double-double with 22 assists and nine digs. 
• Ashley Eck paced the defense with 20 digs. Eck has posted 20 or more digs in four matches this season and double-digit digs in all but one match. 
• Eck also added seven assists.
