ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - The Triton volleyball team cruised past their opponents with a pair of 3-0 victories on the opening day of the Eckerd Invitational. EC took the afternoon match from Wilmington (Del.) and took the nightcap from West Liberty (W.V.) on Friday in the McArthur Center.
In the opener, Eckerd used a 13-4 stretch to close the first (25-13) while capitalizing on an early 7-1 run and late 6-0 run to take the second set, 25-14. EC then cruised in the third stanza thanks to a string of 16 consecutive points (25-11).
The Tritons jumped out early in the day's second match, taking a 20-4 lead before winning the set 25-9. EC and WLU stayed close throughout the second frame, but the Tritons took the set, 25-18, before cruising in the third (25-13).

NOTES AND NUMBERS
- Agata Sklepik and Damyah Joyner led EC in the opener with 12 and 10 kills, respectively, while Stella Antypa posted 13 in the finale.
- Krysten Garrison dished out 36 and 39 assists over both games, respectively. She averaged 12.5 per set over the day.
- Eckerd was efficient on the day with a .402 hitting percentage in the first game and a .444 percentage in the second. EC's .444 percentage in the second match is the best mark since hitting .461 at Valdosta State on September 3, 2021.
- Anna Jungjohann added 16 kills on the day while hitting at a .500 percent clip.
- Joyner's 10 kills in the opener set a career-high.
- The Tritons last went 2-0 on opening day of the Eckerd Invitational in 2017.
