Eckerd Splits Doubleheader With Barry

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - After dropping the opener 5-1, the Tritons bounced back in the finale, as the Eckerd softball team picked up the win, 4-3, thanks to a clutch two-run double by Lauren Margolis in the fifth inning, to split the doubleheader against Barry Sunday afternoon at the Turley Athletic Complex.

Barry tacked on two runs in the opening frame of game one in a continuation from yesterday, which was halted due to inclement weather. The Buccaneers added to their favor with a three-run fourth inning via an RBI single, a sacrifice fly, and an RBI double for a 5-0 lead. The Tritons scored on a solo shot by Skylar Redish in the sixth stanza but could not complete the comeback as BU took the opener.

Eckerd turned the tables in the finale. Barry opened the scoring with a two-run homerun in the third inning, and EC immediately answered back with a two-run blast from Brenna Lokeinsky to even the score, 2-2. BU went ahead on an RBI groundout in the fifth. Lauren Margolis' two-RBI double in the fifth frame was all Eckerd needed to seal the victory, as the Tritons held on for a 4-3 win.
