ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - The Eckerd softball struggled to get its offense going against Nova Southeastern, ultimately dropped the series opener, 3-0, Friday night at the Turley Athletic Complex.
Nova Southeastern struck first, scoring on a sacrifice fly in the second inning for a 1-0 lead. The Sharks added two more runs in the third via an RBI double and an RBI single.
The Tritons' best opportunity to answer came in the third inning when Sara Soterakis cracked a double to right-center field, but Eckerd could not push a run across.
