WINTER PARK, Fla. - Despite plating two runs in the seventh, the Eckerd softball team was unable to complete a late rally, falling, 7-2, in the last game of the SSC series at Rollins as the Tars' steady offense proved too much to overcome on Saturday morning at Martin Luther King Jr. Park.
Rollins struck early and often, pushing four runs across in the first two innings via an RBI double, RBI single, and a two-run homerun. The Tars added three more runs in frames four and five with another RBI double, RBI single, and a solo shot to center field.
EC had a chance to score in the fourth, as Megan Diaz cracked a single to left-center, with Brooklyn Cardona advancing her to second with a single, but EC was unable to push the run across.
The Tritons' seventh-inning rally came up short, with Eckerd plating two runs on a Hannah Burge RBI single and a bases-loaded RBI fielder's choice by Brenna Lokeinsky that scored Sara Soterakis.
