DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Despite striking first for an early 2-0 lead at Embry-Riddle, the Eckerd softball team was unable to capitalize on its early momentum, dropping the first of a three-game SSC series, 12-4, Friday night at the ERAU Softball Stadium.
Eckerd opened the scoring in the first frame with Brenna Lokeinsky scoring on a wild pitch and an RBI single from Megan Diaz. Embry-Riddle immediately answered with nine runs for a 9-2 lead after three innings.
The Tritons trimmed ERAU's lead by two with a two-run homerun by Lokeinsky in the fifth. The Eagles added three more runs in the fifth and sixth innings on three RBI singles to give Embry-Riddle the win.
