BABSON PARK, Fla. - The Eckerd women's tennis team earned its first win of the season, 7-0, at Warner (Fla). Friday afternoon at the Webber Campus Tennis Courts.
The Tritons (1-4) beat the Royals (0-4) after earning the doubles point and winning all six singles matchups in straight sets.
Ericka Chavarria and Kylie Misdorp won a hard-fought No. 1 doubles draw, 7-5, to give Eckerd early momentum for the doubles point. The duo of Alexis Kwasnik and Raia Jagger in No. 2 doubles, as well as the pair of Theo Schultz and Lili Reichert out of No. 3 doubles, each won their match 6-3 and 6-0, respectively, giving the Tritons the doubles sweep heading into singles action.
In the No. 1 singles slot, Chavarria beat Camila Matos 6-1 and 6-4. Misdorp was nearly flawless against Danieirs Santiago, winning 6-1 and 6-0. Theo Schultz gave Eckerd the match win, beating Riley Cook 6-0 and 6-3.
Reichert and Kwasnik bested both of their matchups out of the No. 4 and 5 singles draw, winning 6-4, 6-4, and 6-1, 6-2, respectively. Julia Triska was perfect in her No. 6 singles position, winning both sets 6-0 and 6-0.
The Tritons continue their road trip with a neutral site match at Davenport (Mich.) in Orlando, Fla., on Sunday at 3:00 PM.
