ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – The No. 17 Eckerd women's basketball team dominated Barry, 88-50, for a blowout win at the McArthur Center on Wednesday evening.
The Tritons opened the first quarter with a dominant effort on both sides of the floor, as EC held BU to 20 percent shooting from the floor and led, 26-8, heading into the second frame.
In the second stanza, Barry shot 57 percent from the field, but EC's overwhelming lead proved too much, as the Tritons extended their lead by as much as 26 in the quarter. Eckerd took a 48-25 lead into halftime.
EC and BU traded baskets to open the third frame before Eckerd went on a 12-0 run to extend its lead by 37 (65-28). The Buccaneers and Tritons then traded 6-0 runs, and the Tritons led 71-36, heading into the finale. Eckerd cruised in the fourth for its 18th win of the season, 88-50.

NOTES AND NUMBERS
- Persson's 22 points are one-off her career-high, set at Tampa on December 31. She added eight rebounds in a near double-double effort.
- Vieira enjoyed her second-highest scoring mark of the season with 19 points. She was nearly perfect at the charity stripe, shooting 12-for-13. Her 12 makes, and 13 attempts are both career-highs. She also narrowly missed a double-double with nine assists. She added six rebounds and three steals to her stat line.
- Price earned her fourth double-double of the season with 13 points and 12 rebounds. Her 12 rebounds nearly equaled her career mark of 14 against Florida Southern on January 15, 2020.
- Vieira, Price, and Nicole Scales each tallied 30 or more minutes, with Persson barely missing the mark with 29.
- Eckerd dominated the boards, 47-32.
- EC forced 16 turnovers.
QUOTABLE
"We were aggressive defensively tonight, and our press created multiple turnovers," said head coach Paul Honsinger '98. "Offensively, we remained unselfish and executed well."
