No. 12/15 Eckerd Cruises Past Embry-Riddle, 83-52

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The No. 12/15 Eckerd women's basketball team's strong start at Embry-Riddle was all the Tritons needed to secure its 17th win of the season. EC held a 17-9 lead after the first quarter, never losing momentum, en route to an 83-52 blowout victory Wednesday evening at the ICI Center.

The first quarter was the Lauryn Vieira and Maya Price show, as the duo scored all but three of the Tritons' 17 points in the opening stanza. Eckerd's defense was equally as strong, as Embry-Riddle scored just nine points.

EC was humming on both sides of the floor in the second frame, as the Tritons sunk eight 3-pointers in the quarter. Eckerd received strong play from its bench, as Hannah Wentworth, Macie Knappand Nicole Scales combined for 20 of EC's 28 points. Wentworth and Knapp were particularly lethal, shooting a combined 5-for-10 from beyond the arc, giving Eckerd a 45-21 lead heading into halftime.

The second half was all Eckerd, with the Tritons building a lead as large as 39 points. EC maintained its thirty-point lead, cruising to victory, 83-52.
