ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - For the second time this weekend, the Eckerd baseball team posted a bases-loaded walk-off victory over the Bobcats. The Tritons stormed back with a four-run ninth inning capped by Tyler Cox's walk-off walk to win the game, 5-4, and take the series over Georgia College Sunday afternoon at the Turley Athletic Complex.
The Bobcats jumped ahead with three runs in the opening frame on a two-run double and an RBI single. EC got a run back in the bottom of the inning as Dimerson Nunez crossed on Mitch Donofrio's ground out. GC made it a 4-1 game on a Baylin Moore homerun in the fourth.
The Bobcats kept the Triton bats at bay until the ninth inning as EC began its rally. Donofrio and Danny Guthcer singled to lead off the frame, and Michael Ballard drew a walk to load the bases with one out. Tyler Young delivered an infield single for the first run, and Joe Wike tied the game, 4-4, with a two-run single through the left side. Nunez followed with a walk to load the bases again for EC, where Cox won an eight-pitch at-bat, scoring Young for the walk-off victory.
