ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - The Eckerd baseball team rallied with a pair of runs in the fifth inning but could not make up the difference from the Bobcats three-run opening frame as the Tritons fell, 4-2, in game two of the series Saturday afternoon at the Turley Athletic Complex.
The Bobcats jumped ahead early with three runs in the opening frame, scoring on an error, sacrifice fly, and an RBI single. Mitch Donofrio made it a one-run game in the fifth inning with a two-run homerun to left-center field.
GC added an insurance run in the eighth on a Brandon Bell RBI single. EC's best threat to score late was in the sixth inning as Tyler Young walked and advanced to second on a wild pitch with one out, but the Tritons were unable to push a run across.
