ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - The Eckerd men's soccer team hung close with the nationally-ranked Buccaneers on Wednesday night but ultimately fell, 1-0, on a second-half goal to No. 5 Barry on senior night at Johnson Field.
Neither team could generate a quality look on frame in the opening half, with Barry holding a 4-1 advantage in shots. The Bucs pressured early in the second half with five shots in the first 20 minutes as Lynden Dawson turned back all three attempts on goal. However, Iker Berruezo converted on a corner kick in the 74th minute for a 1-0 BU lead. Eckerd looked to rally late with three corner kicks inside the final five minutes but could not place a shot, falling 1-0.
