ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - The Eckerd men's soccer team registered a season-high 12 goals on the way to a dominant 12-0 win over Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) Saturday night at Johnson Field. The Tritons' 12 goals tie for the most by a team in Division II in a single game this season.
Eckerd wasted little time getting on the board as Jonathan Falbe-Hansen opened EC's scoring in the second minute before Blake Bauer gave the Tritons a 2-0 lead in the 26th minute. The Tritons took a 4-0 lead following a Fort Lauderdale own goal followed by a Joao Gouveia score in the 41st minute. Falbe-Hansen bookended the half with a goal in the 43rd minute to give the Tritons a 5-0 lead at intermission.Â
Eckerd continued its scoring flurry in the second half with seven goals. Luciano Rodriguez and Tommy Lamb converted on penalty kicks early in the second half before Bauer added his second goal of the night in the 72nd minute. Harry Laing converted on his free kick in the 78th minute before Micah Nelson found the back of the net on a header in the 82nd minute. Tommy Shepherd capped EC's scoring with a pair of late goals inside the final seven minutes.Â
