ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Tommy Shepherd and Blake Bauer scored a pair of goals midway through the match as the Eckerd men's soccer team edged Florida Southern, 2-1, Wednesday night at Johnson Field.
Both teams had quality looks on frame in the early going. Eckerd looked to break through in the 41st minute, but the goal was called off due to a Triton offside. However, Tommy Shepherd responded three minutes later, finding the back of the net on a skimming shot from the top of the box to take a 1-0 lead at the break.
EC pressured early in the second half, with Blake Bauer heading in a goal in the 52nd minute. The Moccasins got on the board in the 80th minute as Henri Tophoven found the back of the net. EC kept the Mocs off the board in the final 10 minutes to seal the win.
