WINTER PARK, Fla. – The No. 21 Eckerd women's basketball team scored a season-high 36 points off the bench at Rollins, as the Tritons cruised to a dominant, 80-55, win Wednesday evening at the Alfond Sports Center.
Eckerd grabbed control of the contest from the opening tip, beginning with a 15-5 run over the game's first six minutes. Hannah Wentworth scored seven first-quarter points off the bench, igniting a spark that would become the game's primary storyline. EC finished the first quarter on another run, outscoring Rollins 10-5 down the stretch, taking a 15-point lead, 25-10.
The Tritons perimeter shooting was particularly sharp in the second quarter, as seven of EC's 10 field goals came from beyond the arc. Macie Knapp erupted, scoring 12 points on 4-for-5 shooting, including three 3-pointers. Wentworth and Knapp each tallied career-highs in the first half, with 13 and 12 points, respectively. EC rolled into halftime with a 53-20 lead.
EC's offense cooled in the third as the Tritons were outscored 23-12. Lauryn Vieira hit back-to-back 3-pointers early in the fourth quarter to extend Eckerd's lead to 26 as the Tritons cruised to their 11th win of the season, 80-55.
