NAPLES, Fla. - The Eckerd women's soccer team earned its first win of the season Wednesday night against Barry, 1-0, off the right foot of
Kaia Senecal, who scored the first goal of her Triton career in the 27th minute at North Collier Regional Park in Naples.
Barry outshot Eckerd 4-3 in the opening half, with each team trading quality scoring chances.
Aisling Spillane picked her spot in the top left of the net only to be met by Barry keeper Maddie Hart-Pomerantz in the 17th minute. A minute later, the Bucs' Ashley Forbes answered with a chance of her own but was stopped by Eckerd keeper
Cadence Talbert.
The Tritons used the momentum of Senecal's goal to fuel their offense in the second half, outshooting Barry 7-2 to close the game. Barry had a chance just 52 seconds into the second frame with a shot by Lauren Hall, saved by Talbert. Eckerd had back-to-back scoring chances when
Ava Trachtenberg was solved by Hart-Pomerantz in the 80th minute. Two minutes later, Katerina Papageorgiou nearly scored but was stopped.
