ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - The Eckerd men's soccer team took an early lead following a Ty Dolan goal in the third minute Friday night. However, Spring Hill (Ala.) scored a pair of second-half goals as the Badgers topped Eckerd, 2-1, at Johnson Field.
Just two minutes and 22 seconds into the game, Harry Laing found Dolan 30 yards out. Dolan took the pass and danced around his defender, firing a shot into the top right corner to give the Tritons an early lead. Eckerd held off a plethora of Badgers shots over the next 15 minutes and took a 1-0 lead into halftime.
In the second half, the Badgers Diogo Sousa quickly sent in the equalizer on a low goal just inside the 18 in the 57th minute. He added the go-ahead goal 15 minutes later with a shot from the right side of the box. EC had a chance to equalize in the 85th minute on a Kyle Bingham shot, but it missed just high.
