ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - The Eckerd men's tennis team dropped its match with the tenth-ranked team in the nation on Thursday, falling to Lynn, 7-0, at the Bullard Courts.
The Fighting Knights (4-2, 4-2 SSC) swept doubles play for the first point and took all six singles positions in straight sets.
The tandem on Pierre-Olivier Lassalle and Prakrut Patel battled in a tight match at the No. 1 doubles slot with Jan Kirchhoff and Joao Ferreira, ultimately falling, 7-5.
Lassalle battled in the No. 1 singles slot as well, taking three games in the opening set, 6-3, and dropping a close second set, 7-5.
Patel managed to take five games in the No. 2 singles draw but fell by 6-1, 6-4 decisions.
Playing in the No. 6 slot, Edoardo Ruggiano dropped the first set 6-1 but battled late, forcing the second set to a tiebreaker before falling 7-6 (7-4).
Eckerd (0-5, 0-5 SSC) returns to play on Friday, April 9, hosting Rollins at 2:00 PM.
