ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - The Eckerd women's tennis team fell to No. 18 Florida Southern, 7-0, in their season opener Tuesday afternoon at the Bullard Courts.
The Mocs (1-0, 1-0 SSC) swept doubles competition to take the early point, then defeated a short-handed Tritons squad in each position in singles play.
Playing in the No. 2 doubles slot, the tandem of Cassidy Lear and Alexis Kwasnik battled in a tight match with FSC's Minnie Kim and Laura Vetter, narrowly falling 6-4.
Taylor Selby and Alexis Kwasnik battled in the No. 1 and No. 4 singles slots, respectively, but fell both by scores of 6-2, 6-2.
Eckerd (0-1, 0-1 SSC) returns to the court on Sunday with a trip to Embry-Riddle at 1:00 PM.
