ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Playing in their second match of the week, the Eckerd men's tennis team returned to the Bullard Courts Saturday afternoon to host Palm Beach Atlantic falling, 5-2, to the Sailfish.
Prakrut Patel and Pierre-Olivier Lassalle collected EC's only doubles win with a 7-5 decision over Rodolfo Hasegawa and Erik Carlsten in the No. 1 draw.
Christian Kearns and Sam Walker nearly picked up a victory in the No. 3 doubles slot, ultimately falling 7-5. The Sailfish also collected the win in the No. 2 position for the doubles point.
Patel and Lassalle have won all but one doubles match this year and are 12-1 in their career together.
Palm Beach Atlantic (1-3, 1-2 SSC) then took four of the six singles contests to take the match.
Lassalle also won in singles action, breezing to a 6-2, 6-1 victory in the No. 1 position.
Alejandro Vucanovic collected EC's other singles victory outlasting Osvaldo Sergio Godoy in a three-set thriller in the No. 6 slot. Vucanovic bounced back from an opening set loss (6-3) to take a close second set, 7-6 (7-5), before edging out Godoy, 10-8, in the finale.
Eckerd (0-4, 0-4 SSC) doesn't return to action until March 31 as they travel to Rollins for a 3:00 PM match.
