SAINT LEO, Fla. - The Eckerd men's tennis team battled against No. 3 Saint Leo but ultimately fell, 7-0, on the road Tuesday afternoon.
Alejandro Vucanovic and Edoardo Ruggiano grabbed four games in the No. 3 doubles slot but were bested by SLU's Bruno Faletto and Nicolas Bacella.
Saint Leo (1-0, 1-0 SSC) went on to take the remaining two doubles slots for the early point before winning all six singles matches.
Pierre-Olivier Lassalle nearly gave EC a victory in the No. 1 singles slot, falling in a three-set heartbreaker. He dropped the first set 6-2 before bouncing back to take the second 6-4, but SLU's Bruno Faletto took the third set, 6-3.
Prakrut Patel battled in the No. 2 slot taking two games in the first game and narrowly falling in a tight second set, 7-6.
Christian Kearns managed to take five games from Alexander Parker in the No. 4 draw, while Vucanovic collected three games early on in the No. 6 position.
Eckerd (0-3, 0-3 SCC) returns home for a match with Palm Beach Atlantic on Saturday at 1:00 PM.
