RIGA, Latvia- Playing in her home country, rising senior Laila Forstmane finished second at the Latvian Open at Ozo Golf Club on August 14-16.
Forstmane opened with a 2-over 75 in the first round. She followed with a 68 in the second round, highlighted by four birdies. She shot a 78 in the final round to tie Marta Silchenko for first place before claiming second-place after a two-hole playoff.
Forstmane has had previous success at the Latvian Open winning the tournament last year with rounds of 68-73-77.
Her 4-under 68 in the second round is one stroke lower than her career-low at Eckerd, which she set for a program record in October 2018 at the Shark Invitational.
She enters her senior season, holding the top two spots for season stroke average with a 74.9 average in 2019-20 and 77.9 in 2018-19.
Forstmane also had a strong outing at the Rossini Grand Prix on July 25, winning the tournament for the fourth consecutive year.
