ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – After giving up an early 3-0 lead, the Eckerd softball team rallied with two runs in the fourth and fifth innings as they topped Florida Tech, 4-3, in the series opener Friday night at the Turley Athletic Complex.

Hannah Famiano drew a bases-loaded walk to go ahead 4-3.

KEY MOMENTS
- Florida Tech scored first with a run in the second inning as Tina Velasquez scored all the way from first base on a Triton error.
- The Panthers added two runs in the next frame as Velasquez ripped an RBI double to left center. FT added its second run of the inning on a fielder's choice with the bases loaded.
- The Tritons rallied to pull within one run following a pair of runs in the fourth inning. Kaylin Kramer and Skylar Redish led off the inning with back-to-back singles before Famiano brought in Kramer with a double ripped down the left field line. Famiano moved to third on a wild pitch before scoring on Kayelee Newstrom's single to center.
- EC went ahead with another two runs in the fifth inning. Ally Costa led off the frame with a single down the left field line before Margolis quickly doubled her in in the next at-bat to even the score at 3-3. Kramer followed with a walk before Valerie Holguin singled to load the bases for EC. Famiano then worked an eight-pitch walk to drive in Margolis for the go-ahead run.
- Florida Tech threatened with runners reaching third in both the sixth and seventh innings, but both times Kensley Durrance and the Triton defense kept the Panthers off the board.
NOTES AND NUMBERS
- Famiano led Eckerd with two hits and two RBIs. She leads Eckerd with a .500 batting average this season.
- With a single, Costa has reached base in all 12 games to start the season while Margolis now has an eight-game streak.
- Kramer and Meredith McGinnis each drew two walks.
- Durrance threw seven innings, scattering six hits and striking out four while allowing three runs (two earned) to collect the win.
