ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – The Eckerd softball team rallied late in both games Saturday afternoon but was unable to complete the comeback as Florida Tech took the opener 9-3 before taking the finale 4-1 at the Turley Athletic Complex.
In the opener, the Panthers added seven runs in the first inning for an early lead. Eckerd responded with three runs in the fifth on singles by
Brooklyn Cardona and
Hannah Famiano.
Neither team generated any offense until the fourth inning in the finale, where Florida Tech added two runs. Eckerd added a run in the seventh but could not make up the difference.

KEY MOMENTS
Game One
- Florida Tech struck early with seven runs in the opening frame. The Panthers loaded the bases with no outs and plated the first two runs on a pair of walks before Ashley Campbell hit a two-run double. FT added the next three runs on an RBI single, RBI ground out, and a run scoring off an error.
- The Panthers added another two runs in the fifth inning. A walk and a pair of singles loaded the bases, where Florida Tech plated runs on a ground out and a sacrifice fly.
- The Tritons rallied for three runs in the bottom of the frame. Kaylin Kramer and Skylar Redish led off the inning with walks. Brooklyn Cardona then delivered an RBI single ripped to center field to score Kramer while Redish also scored on the play taking advantage of a Panther error. Hannah Famiano added EC's third run of the inning with an RBI single to center field.
Game Two
- FT took the lead with two runs in the fourth inning as Campbell delivered a two-run single up the middle.
- The Panthers doubled their lead in the next frame as two runs came around to score on a Triton error.
- Eckerd rallied for a run in the seventh inning. Ally Costa singled up the middle and came around to score on a fielding error on Kramer's ball to right field.
NOTES AND NUMBERS
- Cardona and Faminao each recorded an RBI in the opener. Five Tritons recorded a hit in the opener while Meredith McGinnis drew a pair of walks.
- Costa led EC with two hits in the finale.
- Costa recorded a hit in each game as she extends her reached base streak to 14 games.
- Hannah Perkins threw seven innings in the opener while striking out five.
- Kensley Durrance fanned eight over 5.1 innings of work in the finale before giving way to Madison Saltzman, who threw 1.2 hitless innings.
