ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – In an evenly played match,
Lauren Yudin's goal seconds before halftime put the Eckerd women's soccer team up 1-0 giving them enough of an edge for an opening-night win on Johnson Field on Friday night.

KEY MOMENTS
- Neither team got a quality look on goal until Victoria Grant and Hajar Benjoud fired shots in the 19th and 20th minutes but both missed wide.
- Morghan Craven rifled a shot in the 30th minute from just outside of the box but Bobcat keeper Katie Richardson was there for the save.
- Yudin broke the stalemate just before halftime. After collecting a free ball just outside the top of the 18, Yudin fired a shot into the top left of the net for Eckerd's lone goal.
- Early in the second half, Eckerd had three looks as Becky Caraker and Benjoud placed shots on goal but were unable to find the back of the net.
- The Bobcats took several quality looks on goal late in the game placing two low shots in the 75th and 76th minutes but both times Casey Winn was there to collect the save.
- Georgia College's best chance came in the 84th minute as Cassie Balzano made a run to goal firing in a shot to the right post. However, Winn was there to turn back the attempt with a diving stop.
NOTES AND NUMBERS
- Yudin's goal was the second of her career.
- Winn collected six saves in goal for the Tritons while posting the 13th clean sheet of her career.
- Eckerd has won its season opener in three of the past four years.
- The match was evenly played with both teams recording 13 shots while Eckerd held a 7-6 edge in shots on goal.
