ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - The Eckerd women's tennis team fell to No. 14 Florida Southern at the Bullard Courts on Friday, 6-1.
The Mocs (13-3, 4-2 SSC) took the doubles point after winning all three matches, then won five singles contests in straight sets.
Eckerd's point came at No. 6 singles where Maddie Carlson won by default.
Taylor Selby and
MaryAnn Aaron stayed close with Selin Devrimci and Natalija Popovic at No. 1 doubles before dropping the match, 6-4.
Florida Southern was even tougher in singles play as Eckerd (5-10, 0-6 SSC) won no more than two games in any of the contested matches.
The Tritons return to the court on Saturday with a visit to Embry-Riddle for a 12:00 noon first serve.
