SAINT LEO, Fla. - The Triton women's tennis team return to conference competition on Wednesday dropping a 7-0 decision at No. 3 Saint Leo.
The Lions (14-3, 4-2 SSC) lived up to their national billing, winning all three doubles matches by 6-1 scores before taking straight-sets victories in the six singles contests.
Moving up to the No. 3 singles spot,
Theo Schultz hung with Andrea Ivanovic in the first set before falling, 6-3. Ivanovic took the second set, 6-2, for the clinching point.
Taylor Selby and Maryann Aaron both dealt with nationally-ranked opponents in doubles and singles. They teamed to take on 27th-ranked Ivanovic and Kristyna Jurkova in doubles before Selby battled No. 61 Marta Vicens Miquel in singles and Aaron again saw Jurkova, ranked No. 52 in singles.
Eckerd (5-9, 0-5 SSC) returns home on Friday to host Florida Southern at 3:00 PM.
