BOCA RATON, Fla. - Dillon McCollough tossed another conference gem while
Nick Arrivo and
Mitch Calandra delivered key two-out RBI hits late in the game, leading the Eckerd baseball team to a 6-2 win over Lynn University to open its weekend road series.
McCollough threw five scoreless innings to begin the game, giving the Triton offense time to build a 3-0 lead. The Fighting Knights finally broke through in the sixth with a run but Eckerd scored three more times in the final two innings.

KEY MOMENTS
- Eckerd strung together four singles in the third inning to produce two runs. After hits by Santos Grande, Keith Leavitt, Jr., and Nick Conti loaded the bases, Garrett Hiott drove in the first run with the team's fourth single of the inning. Mitch Calandra's sacrifice fly brought in Leavitt, Jr., for a 2-0 lead.
- McCollough retired the first 10 batters he faced before Alec Ojeda reached on a one-out double in the fourth.
- In the top of the sixth, Arrivo delivered the first of a pair of two-out RBI singles to give Eckerd a 3-0 lead.
- Lynn opened the bottom of the sixth with back-to-back singles and broke up McCollough's shutout bid on a sacrifice fly by Ojeda.
- Arrivo rose up again with two outs in the eighth with another RBI single, bringing in Hiott.
- After a pair of errors put runners on the corners with two outs, Calandra roped a double to right field to clear the bases and extend Eckerd's lead to 6-1.
- Lynn worked to stay alive in the bottom of the ninth with three singles, the last of which scored Ojeda, but McCollough got Joe Argumedo to ground out to end the game.
NOTES AND NUMBERS
- Lynn's run in the sixth ended McCollough's streak of 18 consecutive scoreless innings.
- Eckerd outhit Lynn, 13-6. The first 12 Triton hits were all singles. Lynn recorded three of its six hits in the ninth inning.
- McCollough went the distance for the first time since April 14, 2017. Â After fanning eight, he increased his conference-leading strikeout to 61.
- Calandra went 3-for-4 with three RBIs. He leads the conference in RBIs with 25.
