ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - The Triton men's tennis team picked up its second win in a row, getting the decisive point early in singles play for a 4-3 victory over Walsh (Ohio) on Tuesday at the Bullard Courts.
Eckerd (2-2) took the lead after doubles competition winning at both the No. 1 and No. 3 spots. Â
Will Stone and
Matt Spasic made quick work of Jakob Riglewski and Clemens Wagner, 6-1, while
Alejandro Vuconovic and
Sam Walker finished off Tim Bruin and Filipp Kulynych, 6-3.
The Tritons went up 3-1 through the first three singles matches after Stone and Spasic both won in straight sets.
Prakrut Patel then earned the winning point at No. 4 singles by defeating Alex Medina 6-1, 6-3.
The remaining three singles matches were all tightly-contested. Walker and Vuconovic both came up short in tiebreakers, while
Alasdair Knox was edged at No. 1 singles 7-5, 7-6 (7-5).
Eckerd's busy week continues on Thursday hosting Davis & Elkins (W.V.) at 3:00 PM.
