ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Taylor Selby recorded a win in doubles and singles, but Ferris State (Mich.) defeated the Eckerd women's tennis team at the Bullard Courts on Monday, 6-1.
Selby and
MaryAnn Aaron were victorious at No. 1 doubles, 6-4, over Nicole Meylor and Silvia Verebes, but the Bulldogs claimed the doubles point after winning at the No. 2 and No. 3 positions.
Selby also won a tough battle at No. 1 singles against Patricia Gomez, taking the first set in an 11-9 tiebreaker and avoiding a tiebreaker in the second set with a 6-4 victory.
Unfortunately for Eckerd, Ferris State (10-7) won in straight sets at the remaining five singles positions to record the match victory.
The Tritons (2-7) return to action on Wednesday, hosting Winona State (Minn.) at 3:00 PM.
