ALBANY, Ga. - The Eckerd baseball team extended its winning streak to five games behind timely hitting and lockdown pitching, taking both ends of a Saturday doubleheader at Albany State, 14-4 and 7-0.
The Tritons put 13 runs on the board in the first five innings of the opener, and
Robin Allen combined with two other pitchers for a one-hitter over seven innings in the nightcap.

KEY MOMENTS
Game 1
- After back-to-back walks to lead off the game, Mitch Calandra brought both runners home with two-run double. Nick Arrivo then scored Calandra with a two-out single for a 3-0 lead.
- Eckerd doubled its lead in the second after Mitch Donofrio scored on an error followed by a pair of sacrifice flies by Calandra and Nick Conti.
- The Tritons blew the game open with a four-run fourth. Calandra delivered another RBI double followed by a two-run double from Conti. Santos Grande's two-out single later scored Conti from third.
- The Rams scored in the bottom of the fourth taking advantage of a pair of wild pitches by Dillon McCollough after the first two batters reached base. Â
- Garrett Hiott and Calandra hit back-to-back homeruns in the fifth to make it a 13-2 Eckerd lead. Â Nathanael Hibbs led off the top of the ninth with a solo shot for the Tritons' final run of the game.
- Albany State added two runs in the home half of the ninth on a two-run homerun.
Game 2
- Allen cruised through five innings on the mound, allowing one hit and two walks. None of the runners advanced past first base.
- Hiott put Eckerd on the board in the top of the third with a two-run triple. Hiott later scored on an error to give the Tritons a 3-0 lead.
- Eckerd scored four insurance runs in the sixth while taking advantage of wild pitching. Sam Cochrane led off the inning with a walk and scored before a ball was put in play, stealing a base and advancing on two wild pitches. Â Grande then drove in Conti, who also reached via walk, with a double down the right field line. Donofrio's sacrifice fly brought in Arrivo, and Grande crossed the plate on another Rams' wild pitch.
NOTES AND NUMBERS
- McCollough went seven strong innings in the opener giving up just three hits and striking out eight.
- Calandra went 4-for-5 in the opener with five RBIs while Hiott went 3-for-3.
- Allen fanned five in game two while Cameron Lanzilli and Joey Favetta each worked a scoreless inning of relief with two strikeouts.
- Hiott and Arrivo both had two hits in the second game.Â
