VALDOSTA, Ga. – The Eckerd women's basketball team breezed past Georgia Southwestern State, 81-66, as they wrapped up play in the Valdosta State Thanksgiving Tournament.
Octavia Loll narrowly missed a triple-double as she recorded 11 points, 11 rebounds, and seven assists.

KEY MOMENTS
- Georgia Southwestern State took a quick 4-2 lead in the first quarter following a jumper from Dominque Jeffrey and a layup from Lex Chatman. Zoe Richards answered for the Tritons laying in a basket, which sparked a 17-0 run. Richards and Abby Whiteye combined for 15 of Eckerd's 17 points in the stretch. Tyra Smith dropped in two free throws for the Hurricanes to end the run. The Tritons finished the quarter with an 8-2 run as they took a commanding 27-8 lead.
- GSW started the second quarter similar to the first as Kya Cochran and Jamesha Samuel hit consecutive jumpers. Richards laid in another bucket as EC remained in control at 29-12. The two teams traded baskets for the next four minutes until Morgan Towells hit a jumper to send the Hurricanes on a 9-0 run. An Eneritz Larranaga layup ended the run, followed by a layup from Clara Granlund as Eckerd took a 41-30 lead. Georgia Southwestern dropped in three more free throws before halftime as EC took a 41-33 lead into the break.
- Eckerd started the second half strong with an 11-1 run started by a layup from Richards. The Hurricanes answered with a 6-1 run of their own. Mikayla Kuehne drained a triple with just under six minutes remaining in the quarter to give EC a 15-point lead. Two minutes later, Clara Granlund hit two consecutive 3-pointers to give the Tritons a 20-point lead. The Hurricanes answered with a quick five-point run, but Granlund stopped the stretch with another triple. The teams traded free throws to end the third with Eckerd up, 67-49.
- Mar Ibern laid in a bucket to get EC on the board in the fourth, but GSW strung together a 15-4 run over the next seven minutes. Maya Price answered for EC with a layup as the Tritons finished the game with a 6-2 run.

- Richards led EC with 18 points while three other Tritons recorded double-digits.
- Loll recorded her third career double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds. She flirted with a triple-double ending the game with seven assists.
