Tritons Sweep Florida Tech

MELBOURNE, Fla. – The Eckerd volleyball team completed the season sweep of Florida Tech for the third straight year, beating the Panthers in straight sets Saturday afternoon at the Clemente Center.

KEY MOMENTS
  • Florida Tech started the first set with two straight kills by Audrey Keenan and Christina Mayberry. The Tritons answered quickly with an Agata Sklepik kill. The teams swapped rallies over the next stretch until a Sarah Johnshoy kill sparked a 14-5 Triton run to take a 16-12 lead. The Panthers ended the run by scoring four straight points, but Eckerd maintained its lead for the remainder of the set for a 25-23 win. 
  • The second set started similar to the first with both teams trading points early. The Tritons took command of the set with a kill from Johnshoy that sent Eckerd on a 15-4 run to make it 22-11. Asya Harris ended the set with a kill at 25-13 to give the Tritons a 2-0 lead.
  • Eckerd jumped out to a quick 4-2 lead in the third set. The teams followed the theme of the match by going back and forth with neither side able to score more than three consecutive points. A Paula Hoffmann kill sent the Tritons on a four-point run to make it 18-14. The Panthers answered with a late run to even the set at 23-23 before the Tritons ended the match with three straight points. 

NOTES AND NUMBERS
  • Hoffmann set a season-high with nine kills while Harris led the attack with 11 kills.
  • Sydney Case's four service aces are her season-high.
  • The Tritons had eight service aces over the Panthers' one.
  • Luana Rezende led the back row with 25 digs while Hoffmann and Sklepik added 19 and 16, respectively.
