ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - The final non-conference match for the Eckerd men's soccer team ended prematurely as a lengthy lightning storm forced the cancellation of the contest after the first half of play against Johnson & Wales (Fla.).
Eckerd controlled the run of play for the majority of the first half, outshooting the Wildcats 7-4, and had a pair of close-range opportunities turned back in the 13th minute.
The Wildcats earned two corner kicks late in the half but came up empty despite two well-delivered balls.
The Tritons (2-2-1) open Sunshine State Conference play on Saturday with a visit to Barry University for a 6:00 PM kickoff.
