KEY MOMENTS
- Once the Eckerd offense started, it was hard to stop. The Tritons got on the board in the 27th minute and scored three times over five minutes. Celine Brandt started the trio of goals touching the ball toward the right post and finding the back of the net off a corner. Brandt struck again just two minutes later as she laid in a ball just under the crossbar off a free kick. Siobhan Longmore capped the early string of goals, intercepting a deflected ball and sending in a strike under the crossbar from just beyond 25 yards.
- The Tritons unleashed their offense in the second half adding another six goals. In the 54th minute after a failed clearance attempt, Stephanie Linton intercepted the ball with a diving header sending it to the back of the net for Eckerd's fourth goal of the game.
- In the 63rd minute, Becky Caraker took a corner kick and found an open Sophia Kopko running on toward the right post who headed the ball past the keeper. Caraker then sent in her first goal goal seven minutes later on a low strike inside the left post.
- Caraker played a part in the next goal as well, running down the right side and finding an open Johanna Anderson who took the pass and sent in a shot inside the upper right corner from distance.
- Eckerd scored its final two goals within a two-minute span as Gabriela Martinez touched a ball past the keeper into the left post in the 82nd minute. In the 84th minute, Madison Dilgard found Martinez through traffic inside the box who in turn one-touched it to Cameron Westmoreland. Westmoreland tallied EC's final goal, sending it to the back of the net inside the left post.
NOTES AND NUMBERS
- The Tritons newcomers made a substantial impact in their first games at Eckerd as eight of the nine goals were influenced by a newcomer either scoring or assisting the goal.
